My
Experience in BITS So Far…
v What
is BITS?
BITS is an Intra School
Task-Based Online ICT Competition held by Ananda
College ICT Society since 2018. It was first held in 2018, and then even
bigger in 2019. And now it's at the party in 2020!
Hi, I am Thusal Ranawaka. I am a
student in grade 9 at Ananda College. This is my first time at the BITS
competition.
So, according to my experience in
BITS so far… It is great to have an ICT Competition like this to improve your
knowledge about ICT in different fields like,
Coding
Designing
Exploring
Hardware
Programming
etc.
I learn a lot in this short time
of the contest and it's nice to work with elder students in our school who are
guiding us as BITS Mentors and much more experienced than us to get to know
about a lot of things related to ICT. This competition is actually just as
Google Code-in, but in BITS I think it gives far more knowledge than GCI
(Google Code-in) because in GCI the tasks are only based on one organization,
but in BITS they give us more fields of different types of tasks.
And talking about the BITS
website, the BITS Website
is hosting in GitHub Pages which is really cool and that is the
first time I actually got to know about GitHub pages.
I really love the BITS website the way they made it,
The Tasks bar where the new tasks and existing tasks are remaining,
The
Leaderboard where the first 20 Leaders points and ranks are present,
The Contact Us where you can find the contact methods to connect with the BITS mentors,
The
About page which shows some brief explanations about the Organizing Committee
of BITS’20 Contest,
And
the most updated one the really nice Webinar tab. You can't see teaching
lessons in contests like GCI, but in BITS you can have that advantage.
Monday
– HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Webinar.
Tuesday
– Programming.
Wednesday
– Arduino.
Thursday
– Graphic Designing.
Friday
– Hardware.
But
to do this lot of things from a very limited amount of people is truly
remarkable. Creating the BITS’20 website, creating tasks, holding webinars,
updating the website is not easy and they didn’t gain any profits from doing
it.
So,
this is my own experience of the BITS'20 Contest.
Thank
you!
